The fuel system has always been an issue for cars with internal combustion engines. The original cars used a gravity operating system to deliver fuel to the combustion chamber. Today, there are still some engines that utilize the gravity system, but most engines are powered by a fuel system that involves much more than that.

Typical vehicles have a fuel delivery system that includes a fuel tank, a fuel pump, and fuel lines that may or may not reach the entire length of the vehicle. Also, the fuel system includes a final method of delivering the right amount of fuel into the combustion chamber. These systems may be carburetors or fuel injectors. Along the line, there are fuel filters to keep debris from entering the combustion chamber.

When you bring your vehicle in to our service center here at Eagle Volvo in Riverhead, NY for service, ask for a fuel system inspection as well.
